In the Gloaming - 60X48
"Gloaming" is the Scottish word for twilight, that sacred in-between time of transition between the activity of our daily routine to the quiet of night and rest. In the gloaming, the air stills, birds sound their final calls of the day, and the light often turns golden; we find ourselves introspective as our visual perceptions, attitudes and pace of life shifts."

Introducing....

Sanctuary - 36X48

This painting is one of my favorites - the photo does not do it justice.

Layers and layers of colors and textures.

This is my largest painting to date.

My little Ikea table looks great with the painting!

Saturday, May 10, 2008

I spent a lot of time in the yard today - soaking in the sun, digging in the dirt, loving my wife and daughter, and enjoying the presence of God in the world around us. This is what inspires me to paint.

Solitude has been selected to appear on the cover of Crosswalk. Crosswalk is the official publication of the Episcopal Diocese of Upper South Carolina, and is published quarterly and distributed to more than 12,000 households in Upper South Carolina. It offers a regular column by the bishop, local and national church news, and a variety of features that aim to teach and inspire.

The theme for the upcoming issue is "Sabbath".

The last time a painting of mine was used in Crosswalk, I won a national Polly Bond Episcopal Communicator's award!

What others are saying...

"The sunset from the beach at the cottage is big and amazing, and on a clear day, the sun hangs in the blue sky much like your painting. I think that is what drew me to Sunset over Marsh. We often sit on the sand and count as the sun drops into Lake Michigan. I imagine myself in that warm sand when I look at my new painting!" G.W.

"I must say, you certainly seem to have come into your own. These new paintings have so much depth and life! I can see that you have used your knowledge of landscape imagery as you merge into abstraction and it is definitely working to your advantage." E.D.

"I am enthralled with your talent- of course not everything you have produced is of my absolute liking but I see genuine expression in everything you do (art and otherwise)- you do indeed have a talent that will continue to develop, and is worthy of developing." F.B.
